Research at Lockheed Martin

Published:

I’m currently conducting research on internal research and development (IRAD) projects here at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Dallas, Texas. Due to NDA’s, I will keep this discussion at a high-level.

I have the opportunity to conduct research into edge computing and hardware acceleration to implement AI/ML on the edge. In this capacity, I provide full-stack support for this initiative ranging from programming the FPGA’s in Verilog, synethesizing, generating BSP’s, implementing light-weight Linux images, and writing application-level AI/ML.

I’m also interested in writing AI/ML at the hardware level, which has been demonstrated in some recent research papers. As I expand my understanding of neural networks, I would like to implement the nodes in verilog and benchmark this network versus one at the application layer.

Another topic I conduct research on is fiber optics, specifically transplanting high-speed fiber optics onto aircrafts. Current aircrafts support 10Gb/s, however my research is aimed at implementing 50Gb/s.

Topics Covered: signals processing, computer vision, AI/ML, edge computing, IoT, encryption, fiber optics
